My daughter is starting the clarinet this fall in 6th grade. I wanted her to get a headstart over the summer and got her some lessons. These reeds are great for beginners. Beginners will break a lot of them, so no reason to go with more expensive brands. The #2 are very easy to get sound with. Her instructor thinks 2.5 is better for beginners, but I myself played clarinet for 15 years and tried these and find them easier to play with less effort.
