The mXR Phase 100 is the big sister of phase 90. The difference is that you can choose the waveform, you have the choice between 4 different effects. If you are a purist, this will allow you to refine the sound of the effect but you have to change the potentiometer between each song if you use different settings. The second knob allows you to adjust the intensity of the effect. It is very progressive, which allows to be very precise in its setting.
I was looking for an effect for acoustic guitars. I am referring in particular to the comparison to the 90 and the script 90. Certainly the difference between the two last-mentioned changes in the frequency response. They live much more extreme, which is certainly okay for electric guitar. And it will not disturb the fact that the basses are raised above all. With an acoustic guitar you can get in the feedback immediately (if there is no feedback buster in the hole). Back in the mid-'90s I found a Ross Phaser pedal (with the Recycle knob) for my bass pedal rig. I'd found it to be more satisfying with regards to control than the MXR Phase 45 or 90 which just had a speed knob to vary the fx sound. Still, the sound wasn't quite what I was aiming for (better than most of the phase pedal gear out at the time tho), and the phase sound was used less and less unless requested for a particular song like For the Love of Money.
